Adobe Photoshop Files

Default Configuration

Every file format has a default configuration to ensure that a file can be translated; however, it does not handle every complex property that could be thrown your way when translating a source file. The default configuration for Adobe Photoshop files does the following:

Uses Excel 97 Format (.xls) for previewing and reconstructing the Photoshop file.
Uses SRX Rules for text segmentation.

Custom Configurations

If you are performing a code file translation, a custom file format configuration might be necessary to achieve the right results in your target file. Outside of the default configuration selections, Wordbee Translator offers many additional choices for configuring:

Choose a different format to use for previewing and reconstructing the Photoshop file (i.e. Excel 2007, HTML, or ODS Open Office).
Exclude content from the translation.
Always split text at line breaks.

Adobe Photoshop Configuration Options

When setting up a file format configuration for Adobe Photoshop Files, there are many options to choose from to ensure extraction is successful. The General Tab contains options for how the translated file will be previewed and reconstructed as well as options for excluding content and text segmentation. The options are described in general below based on individual sections.

Preview and Reconstruct

This version of the Wordbee Photoshop extractor does not generate Photoshop files on preview or reconstruction. Instead choose any of the following formats to see source texts and translated texts in a tabular format.

Excel 97 format (.xls)
Excel 2007 format (.xlsx)
HTML format (.html)
ODS Open Office format (.ods)
Photoshop (.psd) - Not available yet

Exclude Content

This section may be used to enter speific styles within the source document that should be marked as non-translatable text in the document. Completely non-translatable paragraphs/cells will be ignored by the system.

Individual untranslatable words within a paragraph or cell are made read-only and cannot be modified by the translator. By default, none are defined for Adobe InDesign files.

Text Segmentation

Enable or disable SRX Rules for text segmentation and choose to split or not split text at line breaks.
