Database structure
The structure of the Wordbee terminology databases is concept-oriented, which means that each entry corresponds to one concept. The entries are divided into three levels: concept level, language level and term level. Here is a brief description of each level and their basic data categories.
Concept level
This level is language independent and contains information that applies to all the data at the language and term levels:
Administrative information (e.g. record number, creation date)
Concept-related information (e.g. subject field).
At the concept level, you can add a definition of the concept in the source language that applies to all languages and the terms in the entry. However, in Wordbee, it is possible to add a definition in each language at the language level as well.
Language level
This level contains concept-related information that applies to all the terms in a specific language:
Definition
Explanation
Term level
This level contains a term in a specific language. It is possible to enter more terms per language but they should all refer to the same concept. The termbase entry in the screenshot has the following TBX fields available:
Term, context, definition, explanation.
Grammatical information, such as part of speech.
Process status: unprocessed, provisionally processed, finalized.
Term type: term, abbreviation, phrase, synonym etc.
At each level, you can add Wordbee specific fields, for example, labels and custom fields.
