Q3 & Q4 2020

Learn about the new features and enhancements we have released in Wordbee Translator and Beebox. In the second half of 2020, we have optimized the API methods to manage the flex related translation tasks more efficiently, we have added new document filter options to reduce markup in the Editor, and further improved the Translation, Terminology and Business Management functionalities.

In-house teams can assign co-owners for Client Orders

Are you working with a colleague on an order or do you need to delegate the management of a request? You can now add a co-owner to any order either during order submission or at a later stage during your project. We have added a new option to the Client Order form that enables you to assign one of your colleagues as a co-owner of your Client Order form. Co-owners have the same access rights as the main owner of the order. More information is available in our documentation:

  1. How to add a co-owner

  2. How to view your co-owned orders

Pre-requisites:

  1. Co-owners must belong to the same company as the requester.

  2. The administrator of your Wordbee Translator needs to enable Access Right 404 in your profile.

Wordbee for Clients

Typically, a translator that is assigned to a Flex document, will receive new segments for translation at different points in time. The dynamic nature of the Flex and crowdsourcing jobs posed a challenge in the past. Up until now, this type of translation work could not be costed in Wordbee Translator. With the new Flex workflow available in the project workflow configuration, project managers can now activate automatic and incremental costing of work. To use this new feature:

  1. Create a new Codyt project.

  2. Go to Project Settings > Workflow & Suppliers.

  3. Open the new Flex tab and specify how the new content pushed to a Flex document affects the cost calculation of clients and suppliers.

  4. Choose to generate invoices automatically for both clients and suppliers every time new content is pushed to translators.

You may need to check the Flex file configuration first and enable the features you would like to use: Settings > Document formats > Wordbee Flex.

Additional changes:

  • The workflow & suppliers page has been reorganized to increase overall usability.

  • There are new Flex API 2 methods to download transactions in JSON and HTML format. See Transactions in the API 2 documentation.

  • Both logs and API push methods now include details regarding "post-operations": re-opening jobs, notifications, client and supplier costing.

  • The options to reopen completed jobs with new content and to notify suppliers with updates to Flex containers have been moved from the Flex configuration page to the workflow profile page. This change improves the overall usability.

The new API methods enable the use of Flex in real-world workflows. making costing and invoicing of Flex translation work much easier. Suppliers are immediately notified of any changes in the source or target segments, and invoices are automatically generated for the additional work.

Two new API v1 methods for creating and deleting Codyt document workflows

We have launched two new API methods that enable developers to manage the workflow of a specific document in a Codyt project in a more efficient way. These API methods enable you to delete the existing workflow of a document (including all jobs) and assign a new one. There are two prerequisites:

  1. Make sure you have marked the document for translation.

  2. Remove any existing workflow. See How-to in the GIF video.

Process files with auto-select filters

When you mark a file for online translations, Wordbee Translator will automatically recognize the file format and propose the most suitable configuration to parse the text. A new option is available in the Configuration of all Document Formats, called File conditions. This feature will enable you to create custom filters that can match a specific file extension, file name, or file content. For example, you can set a regular expression on the file name and/or file content to reach higher automation when processing files in a project. When you mark a file for online translation, Wordbee Translator will now sort the filters by file conditions. See a couple of concrete examples in this How-to article: https://wordbee.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/WBT/pages/889782406.

Web preview of XLIFF files

We have added a new option in the configuration of the XLIFF files format that extracts the reference URLs from to segment custom field. This means that you can access the linked web page directly from the Translation Editor. To enable the new configuration,

  1. Go to Settings > Platform customization

  2. In Translation Settings > Document Formats, open the configuration of the XLIFF files.

  3. Access the Web preview settings.

  4. In Preview URLs, tick the Extract reference URL to segment custom field.

  5. Select a custom field of type “Hyperlink’' from the drop-down options.

For best results, you should first configure a custom field for “Hyperlinks” at the segment level. To learn how to create custom fields in Wordbee Translator, see . After you have configured the Hyperlinks custom field, you will be able to select it when you configure the Web preview settings of the XLIFF files.

New file filter options to reduce markup in the Editor

We have added new document filter options to reduce markup in the Editor. You can view and edit the new options by going to Settings > Platform customization > Translation Settings > Document Formats.

  1. The Words or Terms settings of multilingual filters have been improved. You can now use regular expressions to convert text into markup. This option enables you to protect the text from modification and describe the markup with your own words. In the past, all such markup was named "x1", "x2", etc.

  2. The HTML filter for Web pages includes a new option that enables you to assign numeric hashcodes as well. Why? By default, markup that appears more often than once in the same segment is assigned sequential numbers (<div1>, <div2>). In some cases, this may add noise. The numeric hashcodes allow you to match the number to the actual HTML code of the markup. It may happen that two HTML tags with the exact same content may get the same markup name. Use with care!

  3. All document formats have a new filter option to trim leading and trailing markup after segmentation. Go to Document Formats > Edit the settings of any document format > Go to Text segmentation and search for Trim leading and trailing markup after segmentation. In the past, when segmentation split a segment, no markup was hidden. This new option may reduce the markup in the Editor.
