When you have the Wordbee platform and are an agency or company assigning jobs to external workers it is possible to assign multiple resources to the project (Standard or CoDyt).

It is sometimes beneficial to give external translators the ability to modify the linguistic resources such as enriching the glossary or saving a more accurate term or segment to the translation memory.

Example 1

For example, let's say the external translator accesses the CAT editor for performing work and needs to see what resources were used for pre-translation. By enabling the appropriate access rights, etc. they will be able to modify segments in resources to ensure the most accurate translations are used for pre-translations on future projects.

Example 2

Another example, is providing the external translator the ability to enrich the glossary used for projects. You might create an empty glossary, which they can later access and add proper terms to. This information will then be used when pre-translating text on future projects.

To learn how to enabled this feature and use it within the CAT editor, please see the sections below:

Update Access Rights

Access rights can only be modified by the Administrator of the platform. These rights can be changed for two profiles in the system: External Worker and External Worker (Limited).

To begin, first click on Settings in the Menu Bar and then click on Configure to the right of Access Rights in the Accounts and Security section.

Then click on Select next the appropriate profile in the External User Profiles section. In this example, External Worker will be chosen.

Click on Edit and then scroll down to Option 34 - Can edit/delete records in attached resources. This option should be enabled and is set to enabled by default. If for some reason it needs to be enabled, simply click on the radial next to the green circle containing a checkmark, as shown below. Then click on Save in the upper right corner of the screen.

Open the CAT Editor

To open the CAT editor, simply click on the Jobs Tab when viewing the project and then click on Conduct Work for the appropriate document.

This will open the editor as shown below:

Linguistic resources may be modified within the Translation Finder Panel. Records may be added, modified or removed as needed.

Adding Records

To add a new phrase, term, etc. first click on Add Record.

Then enter or copy/paste the source text and target language text into the appropriate field. In the example below the French translation for happy in English is being added. Click on the appropriate resource to select it and then click on Add.

Click on the X to close the pop-up window. Now if you search for the term, phrase, or segment in the Translation Finder Panel, it will appear in the results and will be used for later pre-translations. As shown in the image below, the term happy is found in the sample_TM used for the project.

Updating Linguistic Resources

You may also update a segment, phrase or term within linguistic resources by clicking on Memories or Dictionaries and searching for the text in the Translation Finder Panel. The text may be typed in or copied/pasted into the field. Once finished, click on Search to located the entered text in available resources.
