General requirements

The following specifications are necessary to install and use Beebox: 

  • Microsoft® Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003/2008/2012, 32-bit or 64-bit
  • Microsoft® Internet Information Services 7 or later (included with Windows, but typically must be activated)
  • Minimum 2 GB of RAM (see memory and disk usage)

  • Minimum 1 GB of disk space (see memory and disk usage)

  • Internet Connection

Memory size and speed as well as disk size depends on the text volume to be processed. See also below.

 

Firewall settings

Before you install the Beebox make sure that your firewall authorizes:

  • Port 32572, outbound (To access Wordbee license server)

If you want to access the Beebox UI or API from outside, make sure to further authorize:

  • Port 8089, inbound (To access Beebox UI or API from outside)

Space requirements

The following figures are indicative:

 
 

Low volume

  • One or more small to mid-sized CMS.
  • 4 GB RAM and 10 GB disk free space for Beebox user data (source & translated files, translation memories).
Medium volume
  • Multiple small or mid-sized CMS, each having a few hundreds of pages.
  • 8 GB RAM and 20 GB disk free space for Beebox user data.
High volume
  • Major CMS systems with thousands to millions of pages.
  • 16 GB RAM and disk space accounting for global content size.

Third party software

You may optionally want to install these software packages:

  • Microsoft Word®, Excel® and Powerpoint® if and only if the native document formats need to be supported. Office is not required to process .docx, .pptx or .xlsx files.
  • Adobe Indesign if and only if .indd files need to be supported Indesign is not required to process .idml files.

 

Windows components

The software requires Windows features to be enabled. The setup program will automatically enable or download those if not present.  You can also enable these features manually prior to installation.

  • Microsoft® .Net Framework 4.5.1 (System upgrade)
  • ASP.NET 4.5 (Windows feature)
  • IIS .Net Extensibility 4.5 (Windows feature)
  • ISAPI Filters and ISAPI Extensions (Windows feature)
  • IIS Security Request filtering (Windows feature)
  • Common HTTP features - Default document (Windows feature)
