What is the difference between a 100% match and a 100% pre-translation and why are these considered as something different in Wordbee?

100 % match happens by concordance search in the memories attached while a document that is already in the Editor (not during the mark online). Results are presented in the Translation Finder.
100 % pre-translation is a 100% match from the memories that was already available when the mark online was done. As a result, the system populates the existing translation into the target segment. When you click on this segment in the Editor, you can see which was the 'origin' of this pre-translation (an attached TM, the PM if the segment was already available in another file of the project, etc.). The hit that was used to pretranslate is usually listed on top of the list... However, there are different criteria to check if many of the matches listed get the same 100% rate (see article: How does the system lookup and retrieve the best translations for pre-translation or during Editor work?).
Because you can only pre-translate during the file-preparation process, once the mark online is done, any text that appears already populated in the target segments is considered a pre-translation. By looking at the 'detailed word count report' you get to see more about the origin of the pre-translations in a file. This helps understand better what is the leveraging ratio you get from project files vs. attached memories (see article: View the detailed word count report)

How and why does Wordbee handle pre-translations and matches differently?

The way Wordbee Translator was conceived shows that the way we handle repetitions is different from other systems do (they often have a specific category to log these). In Wordbee Translator, you can decide how to count repetitions and which of these need to be counted. Exact repetitions are considered 100% matches. Similar repetitions are considered fuzzy matches. Therefore, the information about such elements is injected into these categories in the word count analysis.
