Wordbee MT Hive enables clients to request an instant translation via the Client Portal. Workflows can be automatically kicked off in order to reduce management tasks and help the customer save time and costs. Depending on the quality of the MT output, the clients may download the files or request a post-editing job.

How clients can use MT Hive

Request full document translation

As a customer, you can use the MT Hive service to test various MT engines, to machine translate and immediately download your documents. Later you can request human post-editing on the same page, where you can also preview the costs, and set deadlines.

From the Client dashboard, go to Orders and select MT Hive. A new window opens prompting you to select the translation option, source and target language, and to upload your files.

Click on Translate to launch the instant translation.

Another window opens listing all the translation requests of the past 30 days. Here you can see the number of words/characters that have been translated with MT Hive, you can download your translations and/or request human post-editing service.

The system first translates with translation memories and then uses machine translation for untranslated segments.

Request a quick translation

From the main MT Hive screen, use the Quick Translate option to test the MT engine or quickly translate a sentence or paragraph. If the administrator has enabled more than one MT system, the desired engine can be selected from the dropdown they will see at the bottom of the window.

Request MT post-editing

If you are not happy with the raw MT output, you can request a Post-editing service.

  1. Open the View recent translation tab.

  2. Select the file, go to Human post-edit and tick the Request now box.

  3. Add reference, set deadline and add comments.

  4. To view an estimate of the costs, click on Preview cost. Note that the costs are shown without VAT!

  5. Click on Submit request. The system will automatically create a project from a template.

The post-editing status has changed into in progress. By clicking on the status, the details of the order are shown.


Customize the MT Hive Form

As a project manager, you can customize the MT Hive form and assign it to your clients.

Enable the MT system of your choice

First, you need to enable the MT systems that you want your client to use. If you do not know how to configure and enable an MT system, see Machine Translation Settings.

Customize the MT Hive form

The MT Hive form lets you customize the "MT Hive" page in the client portal. The configuration enables users to request an instant document/text pre-translation using both translation memory and machine translation. Each client can be given access to exactly one of the forms but you can define multiple forms for different groups of clients. Machine translation, translation memory, pre-translation and human post-editing processes can be customized individually for each form.

To access the MT Hive form:

  • Go to the Homepage and click on Settings.

  • Search for MT Hive. Select the option listed under the Client portal and click on Configure.

The Customisation page opens and you will be able to view the MT Hive form and the clients who have access to it.

Click on Select to access the Customisation options. Change the internal name and add comments, if needed. The screenshot below shows that the Intento MT API has already been enabled for the customer.

To add another MT system that your client can use, go to User option and click on Add option. Name this option for internal reference, if needed. Use Delete option if you want to remove this MT system.

Step 1. Memory pre-translation

As a first step, the system tries to pre-translate text using the memories selected below. Given a specific document to translate, memories with matching source language and target language will be selected for leveraging.

  • Select or add the translation memories and termbases the system should use to translate.

  • Set the match percentage. The system will use the memory if it is 100% or more.


Step 2. Machine pre-translate

As a second step, all texts not translated from memories are machine translated.

  • Select the system you want to use to machine translate documents. If you want to enable more MT systems, click on the manage connectors link.

Step 3. File formats

Choose the file types that can be uploaded for automatic translation. Per file type, you can customize text extraction rules. When adding multiple rules for a format, the end-user is given a choice. Let's take an example:

You have a document with red text that does not need to be translated. You add a new field called "No red text". Thus, the client will have the choice between the standard type and the "No red text one".



Step 4. Post-editing

The form includes a button to request a post-edit of an automatic translation.

  • Project: use a template to define the post editing workflow.

  • Client order: automatically calculate cost entering a code you can find in your client pricelist. Define the status of the project when the cost is calculated or not.

  • Jobs: automatically create jobs and start the workflow.

You can define as many forms as you need. For each form, you can add different resources, select different file formats, define a specific workflow, etc. For instance, you can define a form with medical resources, a specific project template, a form with technical resources, and another project template.

Train your system

Train the system is a way to feed it with past translations in order to make it more efficient. To do so, you will have to export your projects documents to your machine translation system.

  • Go to Project tab from the home page.

  • Select the projects you want to export.

  • Click on Export segments at the top of the page.

A pop-up window will open:

  • Select the languages to export.

  • Define which translation and bookmarks status you want to export.

  • Tick, if needed other boxes about extraction settings.

  • Click on download.

  • Drag and drop this TMX file in your machine translation system.

Be aware that you can find the machine translation statistics on the Business Analytics page. You can check the volume and quality of text translated by machine. You can do so for in context, identical and fuzzy pre-translations. (See Business Analytics)
