Configure translation options

The Outlook Addin links to the MT Hive tool which is part of the Wordbee Translator client portal. MT Hive is a web interface where users upload files to obtain gist translations.

To activate the service for your users, some customization is required, such as:

  • File types such as Word, Excel, XML that can be translated.
  • Any translation memories to use for pretranslation.
  • The machine translation system to use.
  • Options for post-editing

These settings are grouped in, what we call, an MT Hive form. Once a form is created you assign it to corporate or client users. From then on these users can request translation from Outlook. You can create as many forms as you like, such as one per client. This is indeed necessary if you want to configure client specific translation memories.

MT Hive settings

  • Login to Wordbee Translator as administrator.
  • Click Settings in the top navigation menu.
  • Select MT Hive

If you do not see this link then your license does not cover this module. Please contact Wordbee.

The existing forms are listed:

You can add new or edit existing forms from this page. The View clients link shows if a form is assigned to a company, the pre-requisite for users to use the Outlook Addin.

Configure forms

Each form has a wide range of parameters.

Name and description

In the top you can name your form, add an internal description and even include a message for your clients (not visible from Outlook, online only).

Translation options

This is optional. If there is more than one option, the Outlook or online user can choose one. All subsequent settings such as memories, files or MT can be configured individually per option.

Options are useful if, for example, your client translates technical and marketing content and you want to activate different memories or MT systems respectively. Your options could then be named "Technical" and "Marketing".

Memory pre-translation

Optionally add any memories to be used for pre-translation. This takes place prior to machine translation.

You can add memories of any language combination. The system will always use those compatible with the translation request.

Machine translation

Choose a machine translation system. Also see this page on /wiki/spaces/WBT/pages/711232.

File formats

Choose the file formats that a user can translate:

Per enabled format choose the text extraction rules to apply. The rules define how and which text is extracted for translation.

For some formats such as XML or JSON, you need to be careful to set the rules to your specific client requirements.

You can also define multiple rules per format:

Now, if the user translates a Word document he is given the choice for "Default" or "No red text".

To permit translation Office content the Microsoft Word file format must be enabled.

Language combinations

The form automatically enables all those language couples that the selected machine translation system supports. You can freely delimit languages by /wiki/spaces/WBT/pages/711232.

Other settings

There are some other less used settings. The post editing options, if enabled, lets users submit the gist translation to your translation team for linguistic enhancement.
