Default Powerpoint Configuration

Every file format has a default configuration to ensure that a file can be translated; however, it does not handle every complex property that could be thrown your way when translating a source file. The default configuration for Microsoft Powerpoint files does the following: 

  • Extract document properties for translation (document title, keywords, category etc.).

  • Extract user comments for translation.

  • Extract hidden slides for translation.

  • Extract master slides for translation.

  • Do not show leading and trailing whitespaces.

  • Convert sequences of multiple whitespaces into markup.

  • Do not show leading and trailing characters that are neither letters nor digits.

  • Convert words containing neither letters nor digits into markup.

  • Enable SRX rules for text segmentation. 

  • Always split text at line breaks.

  • Ignore formatting changes applied to whitespaces.

  • Ignore Asian font changes if the source language is not Asian.

The following are just a few examples of what you can do with a custom Powerpoint configurations in Wordbee Translator. For more advanced examples, please see our Powerpoint Questions and Answers page.

Excluding Hidden Slides

By default, hidden slides in a Microsoft Powerpoint file are extracted for translation. In some instances, these slides may not require translation and you will need to disable the Extract Hidden Slides for Translation option to exclude these items from the translation.

Excluding Colored Text

For instance, if red and green text within a Microsoft Powerpoint file should not be translated, this formatting rule is not part of the standard default configuration. However, this can easily be accomplished by creating a custom configuration for Microsoft Powerpoint files.

Excluding User Comments

By default, user comments are extracted from the Microsoft Powerpoint file for translation. If you do not want the user comments to be extracted, this option must be disabled in the file format configuration.
